Emiliana Torrini is an Icelandic performer the New York Times has called a “singer-songwriter of delicate strength and tactile mysticism.” Her career has spanned four original albums, including the recent Tookah which was released on Rough Trade in September 2013. Tookah follows her commercial breakthrough, Me and Armini, which peaked at number 30 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart. Me and Armini also features Emiliana's hit single, “Jungle Drum,” which was #1 for several weeks in Germany (9 weeks), Iceland, Austria and Belgium. SPIN praised the album, saying, “Torrini delivers a velvet knockout punch with championship flair.” Tookah was equally praised by critics: The NY Times called it “an extremely poised new album,” Q Magazine said Tookah is “warm and addictive” and All Music Guide calls the album “effortless, nuanced, and connected.” Emiliana’s songs have been featured in various films, documentaries, and television shows such as The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (“Gollum’s Song:), Grey’s Anatomy, Castle, CSI: NY and Luther. She has also co-written and co-produced songs with Kylie Minogue and collaborated with Bill Callahan, Thievery Corporation, Paul Oakenfold and Steve Mason (The Beta Band) among others.
